The first rays of the rising sun kiss the summit of Moel Famau, North Wales, on a cold and frosty winter's morn as I'm stood hunched over my tripod watching as golden light paints the scene in front of me.
This part of the Clwydian range of mountains is redolent with dry stone walls in various states of repair, which make for great photographic subjects when the light is right, striding off across the landscape, both dividing and defining the shape of the hills.
At my feet a patch of marsh grass blows around in the stiff breeze.
I've got no chance of the grass being sharp in my image, so I go in the other direction, choosing a slow shutter speed and letting the dancing stalks blur as thet wave around during the one second exposure.
It's an interesting juxtaposition, the ancient and (relatively) immoveable wall paired with the transient and highly mobile clump of grass, but the picture would still be ordinary if it wasn't for that beautiful searching, golden light of sunrise.
