Aira Force is an impressive series of waterfalls, running eventually into Ullswater, one of the Lake District's most lovely stretches of water.
This is a photo of the main falls as it plunges into a canyon at the beginning of a series of smaller falls.
Even though the sky was overcast at the time, I took this photo with a polariser fitted in order to reduce the glare coming off the rocks and foliage so that the lovely green of the mosses and lichens could be seen more clearly.
Actually taking this photo was quite a rushed affair, as there was so much spray coming off the falls that my optics got hazed over in no time at all.
I had to keep my lens covered with a hat until just before pressing the shutter release, and then wipe off my filter and cover the lens back up again before the next exposure.
This was my favourite of the few different compositions I managed to take, with the white water of the falls nicely framed between the darker rocks and moss either side.
