Aysgarth Falls in the Yorkshire Dales are a real beauty spot, and well worth stopping at if you're in the area.
On the late autumn afternoon when Liz and I visited the falls were pretty full with run-off water from the surrounding peat moors, hence the water was a very appetizing chocolate brown colour.
There were so many features and angles to the falls that it was was almost overwhelming in terms of where to point my camera to the best effect.
In the end I decided on this small drop which gave good texture to the water without it becoming so broken up that the colour would have been lost in a mass of foam.
I played with various shutter speeds before deciding on 1/5 second which gave the best compromise between smoothing the flow of water so the colour could be seen, and retaining some texture in the fast flowing stream.
