One thing Scotland isn't short of is water. with lochs and burns everywhere you turn.
This particular combination of river in spate and waterfall caught my eye as my wife Liz and I were enjoying a somewhat soggy stroll around the Galloway Forest Park, at the Glentrool visitor centre.
It was the lovely peaty colour of the water that first attacted me to the river, but the addition of the little waterfall in the background was a very welcome added bonus, and certainly made it worthwhile getting my camera out in the rain and taking this shot.
I was quite excited about visiting this part of Scotland, as this park is the only 'Dark Skies' area in the UK, and I was hoping to see an photograph some amazing night skies.
No chance! With full cloud cover, drizzle and rain for the duration of our stay venturing out at night proved to be a futile exercise.
Never mind though, I can always give it another go when the weather's better.
