The story behind this image
What to do and see on a rainy night in Cornwall? That was the question facing my wife Liz and I during a weekend away in this beautiful, but damp, part of the country.
In the end we decided on a stroll around Padstow, surely the quintessential Cornish fishing port, or so we thought!
What we found when we got there wasn't quite what we expected. It seems the whole place has been given over to trendy wine bars, expensive restaurants and quaint tourist shops and galleries, all vying for the custom of a few sodden visitors such as ourselves.
I resisted the temptation to buy a Union Jack mug or spotty teapot, but I couldn't resist photographing the chintz as we strolled along.
