Staying for a few day on the southwest coast of Ireland at Youghal, County Cork, my wife Liz and I took the opportunity to stroll around this somewhat unusual seaside town.
Partly a working harbour town, and partly a seaside resort, Youghal seemed to me to have almost a split personality, and we made sure we experienced both halves.
Youghal harbour proved to be an interesting place, with a few fishing vessels working out of its small concrete piers, and smaller craft moored to floating buoys going up and down with the tide.
The tide was high when we visited, so everything was floating, including this small boat with its reflection, seemingly anchored to the bottom of the picture frame by its mooring rope, which I used in this composition as a diagnoal line leading the eye across and up through the picture space.
