The story behind this video

This video compilation features Aber Falls, one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Wales.

Set in beautiful woodland against a huge escarpment in the Snowdonia (now called Eryri) National Park, Aber Falls is a popular attraction, and is usually busy during the summer months.

My wife Liz and I hadn't taken the one and a half mile path to the falls for quite a few years, so on a sunny afternoon in the early autumn of 2024 we decided to re-discover this wonder.

On arriving at the car parking area we were surprised to see how developed it had become, with toilets and a pay and display machine, both of which weren't there last time we were here.

But apart from improved facilities at the trailhead, nothing else had changed as we enjoyed our gentle hike uphill through the ancient woodlands and sheep pastures to the falls themselves.

And of course, while Liz was relaxing in the cooling breezes coming off the cascading water, I got busy with my camera, filming the falls from various angles to make this compilation video as a reminder of one of the loveliest places in Eryri.

But I'm sure we'll be making this trip again, and I'd love to see the falls in winter.
