Llyn Alwen reservoir in North Wales is an oasis of calm and quiet compared to its larger and much more heavily visited neighbour, Llyn Brenig.
My wife Liz and I come here often, for a walk around the forested margins of the lake, nibbling on bilberries as we go along, enjoying the complete absense of traffic noise and other man-made intrusions to the natural order of things.
However, on this occasion in August 2018, with a cold wind blowing heavy clouds over the landscape we ventured no further than the impressive stone dam at the end of the reservoir, where I set my camera up to record this two part time lapse of those dramatic clouds.
Much more interesting from a photographic point of view than clear blue skies, but not too good if you want a pleasant hike around the lake.
