Betws-y-Coed Timelapse #5

The story behind this video

On our tours of the Snowdonia National Park near our home in North Wales my wife Liz and I often stop at this overlook, just outside Betws-y-Coed on the A5, to admire the view over the trees of the Gwydir Forest towards the shapely peak of Moel Siabod in the distance.

Although the overall view of hills, valley and mountain stays the same, the variations in colour, weather and lighting throughout the year means that we never get to see the same view twice.

And on this occasion, in November 2021, we were treated to a rather entrancing version of the landscape, swathed in autumnal colours and with patches of sunlight and shadow playing hide and seek over the trees as the broken clouds scudded by overhead.

Perfect conditions for a lovely time lapse video then, so I wasted no time in setting up my camera to record the hundreds of still images needed to create this short clip.

Twenty minutes and a cup of coffee later and it was time pack the camera away and head off to our next beauty spot - there's just so many to choose from in the wonderful part of God's creation.
