Most of my time lapse video clips are the result of careful planning, taking into account weather, sunrise or sunset time and direction, state of the tide and so on.
But a few, including this film of dramatic clouds and sun rays sweeping across the sky, are the result of just being in the right place at the right time.
My wife Liz and I had been for a late afternoon stroll around the Marine Lake at West Kirby, and were finishing off our visit with a cup of coffee while sitting on a bench overlooking the lake.
Rather than sit there doing nothing I dug out my camera kit from the boot of my car, parked a few feet away, and started taking stills of the dramatic heavy clouds passing overhead.
Sipping away at our coffees as the shutter clicked away every three seconds we enjoyed quite a spectacular light show for half an hour before finishing our drinks, packing up and heading home.
After having compiled the video I was pleasantly suprised at how good it had turned out, having taken the stills just on a whim while having a drink.
You never know when something worth photographing will appear!
