It's behind you!
Anyone who's been to a pantomine knows that refrain, but on this occasion the admonition to look behind you also applied to my photography.
My wife Liz and I were watching the sunset from the slopes of Moel Famau, our local hill, and I was hoping to capture a time lapse of the sun setting and underlighting the clouds as it went in a dramatic and colourful fashion.
My only problem was that there were no clouds out to the west, just a bland blue sky.
Nice enough to look at, but a bit boring in terms of photography or time lapse video production.
I was on the point of packing up when the cry came 'look behind you', so I did, and saw this lovely line of cumulus clouds moving by to the east, just catching the last light from the setting sun.
A rapid bit of relocating ensued and I was able to shoot just a couple of hundred frames of the clouds moving before the light finally faded from the scene.
A couple of hundred frames may sound a lot, but at thirty frames a second they don't last long!
Hence this is a rather short video.
I wish I'd looked behind me a bit sooner!
