A very early start got me to the top of the limestone escarpement in Loggerheads Country Park, part of the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in North Wales, well before dawn.
The reason for my nightime excursion was the combination of a full moon setting over the summit of Moel Famau, coupled with the promise of clear skies for the early morning, leading to the hope of filming the moonset over the beautiful rolling landscape.
Well the shoot started well, but after a short while a bank of un-forecasted cloud rolled across the heavens, somewhat muting the brightness of the moonlight.
I kept on shooting until the moon had completely disappeared behind the ever thicknening cloud before finally calling it a morning and redirecting my camera to film a view with a bit more action.
That view turned out to be looking out over the 'We Three Loggerheads' pub on the left and the Loggerheads Visitors' Centre on the right, with the road from Mold to Ruthin running in-between.
With the road winding away into the hills I was treated to some great lighting effects as cars and trucks drove past, their head and tail lights lighting up the surrounding countryside.
Soon enough it was time to pack up and head off to work, but what a great and unusual way to start the day!
