A gentle climb up from Cilcain in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) will eventually get you to a saddle in the Offa's Dyke path between the twin peaks of Moel Famau and Moel Arthur.
Which is just what my wife Liz and I did one afternoon in mid-October 2020, under grey, cloudy skies.
Having reached the saddle we turned around for the hike back down to our parked car, but before we got going we stopped for fifteen minutes for a breather and for me to shoot the hundreds of frames needed to create this time lapse video, featuring a battered old lonely tree by the side of the path.
But of course, a time lapse video is nothing without movement, so I was glad of those clouds, looking suitably dramatic blowing towards me over the stark silhouette of the lonely tree.
I wonder how old that tree is, and how much longer it can survive in the harsh conditions in this rugged part of North Wales.
