Update - February 2015!
This video has now been 're-mastered' using Adobe Lightroom to develop the camera RAW files and LRTimelapse3 software to reduce the jumps in exposure caused by the transition from day to night.
Final video was assembled and edited in Photoshop CC.
Original story
Well this is something I've been wanting to try for ages - time lapse video.
I've seen examples on the web, and also helped my art student daughter Allie to shoot the stills for her surreal 'Barbie' stop motion video, so I had some idea of what was involved.
For this first attempt I chose a scene that I was familiar with from my still landscape photography - the view overlooking the Conwy estuary on the North Wales coast, reached by climbing the Sychnant Pass just behind the town of Conway itself.
I chose this view because there would be something going on in most parts of the scene, from the brightly lit A55 expressway, up through the tidal estuary to the town of Llandudno and the Great Orme headland and onto the sky in the far background.
I chose to photograph either side of dusk in order to maximise the video's impact, but that certainly caused me some problems in terms of changing exposures! I'll have to work on that for my next video, but see if you can spot the exposure issues I had in shooting this one.
When I get a bit more experienced in this sort of thing maybe I'll post some videos on YouTube for comment, but in the meantime, if anyone has any advice for me, especially on how to compensate for changing light levels, I'd be very glad to hear from you at my usual email address howie@gohowie.com.
Thanks for your help in anticipation.
