Driving back to our holiday cottage near Bude, after having spent the day exploring the beauties of the Atlantic coast of north Cornwall, my wife Liz and I noticed this lovely sunset developing over the ocean.
Finding somewhare safe to park on the narrow country roads to photograph the event proved challenging, but eventually I found a convenient layby that gave us this view out over the sea.
By now the sun was touching the horizon, so with no time to lose I quickly set up my camera and tripod, using my longest zoom lens to get as close to the action as possible.
I ended up by shooting just a couple of minutes of video as the sun sank rapidly down past the far horizon, catching the best and most colourful part of the sunset.
The real time video was a bit tedious to watch, so in order to make things a bit snappier I speeded the action up by six times for this final edit.
