With the coast of northwest Cornwall being only a short drive away from our holiday cottage near Bude, my wife Liz and I took full advantage of the changeable September weather to enjoy watching and filming some dramatic sunsets from various coastal beauty spots during our two week stay in this lovely part of the world.
With its western facing bay, Crackington Haven proved to one of our favourite sunset locations, with the sun setting slap bang in the middle of two large cliffs over a stunning beach.
On this particular evening low tide occured just before sunset, leaving a shining expanse of wet sand exposed to reflect the dramatic play of sunlight and shadow as clouds raced by overhead while over towards the horizon sunbeams burst through gaps in the wrack in a dazzling display of crepuscular rays.
I kept on filming well after sunset, catching the incoming tide as the beach was slowly covered up and the last vestiges of twilight colour leached from the skies above.
A beautiful and inspiring evening, watching God's creative handiwork in action.
