I'm high up in the foothills of the Orosira Dikti mountains in central Crete, looking out towards the north coast of the island as vultures wheel by overhead and light cumulus clouds float by, painting the rugged landscape below with a chiarascuro patchwork of light and shadow.
An ideal situation for a time lapse video, so while my wife Liz goes shopping for presents for the grandchildren in the gift shop at the very quirky Homo Sapiens Museum I'm sat on the bonnet (hood) of our hire car, sucking on a choc ice in the 30°C; heat while the camera clicks away.
Half an hour later and the shopping's all done, the choc ice is eaten and I've enough stills for this time lapse clip, so it's on to our next adventure as we explore the beautiful and suprising island of Crete.
