Flat calm conditions and a glowing sky at sunset reflecting in the still waters of the Conwy estuary at the turn of the tide were what greeted my wife Liz and I as we pulled up on the promenade at Deganwy on the North Wales coast.
Having finished our coffees and gone for a stroll along the seafront path it was then time to return to the car and do some filming, hoping to catch the high clouds catching the last of the light over the Irish Sea.
Well I wasn't disappointed, with the gentle colours of dusk, bleeding into twilight, playing out both overhead in the sky above and also reflected below in the still evening waters.
So after a wonderful hour or so spent taking the hundreds of still images needed for this time lapse, and with the sky now almost colourless in the grey tones of twilight, it was finally time to pack up for the drive back home.
What a wonderful way to end the day!
