High up on the bleak Denbigh Moors in North Wales the weather can turn on the drop of a hat.
One minute my wife Liz and I were driving along the famous Sportsman Pass road between Denbigh and Pentrefoelas in glorious sunshine, with just a few light cumulus clouds for company, then, as we rounded a corner this view towards the mountains of Snowdonia (now called Eryri) unfolded before us.
What a contrast!
As the high mountains forced warm air upwards, massive banks of storm clouds streamed across the landscape, with bands of heavy rain denuding the moors just a short distance from our car.
Now I love interesting weather, so I took a risk and set up my camera on the verge to record a few hundred still images of the dramatic atmospheric events playing out in front of us.
Fortunately the rain kept its distance and I didn't get soaked on this occasion!
