During our stay in the north of the Republic of Ireland in the autumn of 2024, my wife Liz and I discovered many beautiful, unspoilt beaches along the coastline of County Donegal as part of our ongoing mission to cover the entire 1,500 miles of the Wild Atlantic Way along Ireland's west coast, one bit at a time.
But one beach that we kept coming back to was the large expanse of pristine sand and dunes at Magheroarty.
The views at this particular beach were stunning, and even in stormy weather the scenery was breathtaking, with the curiously flat topped Muckish Mountain in the background and dunes in the foreground.
On this particular visit we were treated to some typical west coast weather, with threatening clouds rolling in off the Atlantic Ocean on a stiff breeze with just a hint of rain in the air.
No time to waste then, as I set up my camera to capture the hundreds of still images needed to create just these few seconds of time lapse video while we munched on cold pizza and watched the dog walkers braving the elements on the sand below us.
Never a dull moment weatherwise in this part of the world!
