County Donegal, on the northwest atlantic coast of the Republic of Ireland, has some amazing scenery and geology to explore, admire and photograph.
Not least are the varied mountains rising out of the landscape, and one of the most striking is the curiously flat topped Muckish Mountain, just inland from the lovely beach at Magheroarty on the Wild Atlantic Way.
My wife Liz and I made a few visits to Magheroarty during our stay in Donegal during September 2024, experiencing all the varied weather that this part of the world throws at you.
On this particular afternoon the sun was shining and a few light cumulus clouds were drifting over Muckish Mountain while a gentle breeze ruffled the grasses on the dunes that lined Magheroarty Beach.
Lovely conditions for a picnic, so while Liz and I munched away on cold pizza I had my camera set up and clicking away, capturing a few hundred still images of the mountain as those clouds drifted by, in orde rto create this short time lapse video.

Filters - 2 stop neutral density graduated filter used to reduce the brightness of the sky relative to the land.
