When my wife Liz and I set off to explore a part of the world that's new to us, we get out an old fashioned map and have a look for drives that take us along minor roads that wind through mountain ranges or hug a dramatic coastline.
The sort of routes that satnav systems would avoid like the plague!
This old school approach to navigation certainly paid dividends for us during our week spent seeking out the most beautiful views in County Donegal in the Republic of Ireland during September 2024.
Following the amazing Wild Atlantic Way scenic route along Donegal's atlantic coastline took us to this lovely little bay and beach at Rossbeg, where we stopped to admire the view and eat our packed lunch under rare, but very welcome, warm sunshine and blue skies.
Now weather like doesn't usually do it for me in terms of outdoor photography, I much prefer stormy skies and chiaruscuro lighting, but as there were some wispy cirrus clouds floating by high up in the atmosphere I decided to set up my camera and record a few hundred still images to create this short timelapse video, after all, I had nothing else to do other than eat and look at the scenery.
Having processed the images into this video I was pleasantly suprised on how well the time lapse had turned out, with a warm and welcoming summery feel to the final edit.
Maybe I shouldn't be so picky about the weather and lighting in future videos!
