Early morning on the atlantic west coast of the Republic of Ireland, in a little village called Mullaghdoo Scotch in County Donegal.
My wife Liz and I were staying for a week in this remote spot, courtesy of AirBnB, to explore the beauties of Donegal and to complete driving another section of the amazing Wild Atlantic Way.
I'd got up early as I'd left my camera out overnight capturing a couple of thousand still images of the milky way as it arched across the sky to the south.

Anyhow, when I emerged from our cottage the sky to the east was glowing orange with that wonderful light that only early risers get to see, so instead of packing my camera away I fitted a new memory card and repositioned it to catch the sunrise over our neighbour's house.
And I was treated to a lovely light show, with only a seagull for company, until I finally stopped shooting and went in for breakfast.
What a wonderful way to start the day on the edge of the atlantic ocean!
