I was hoping to do some milky way time lapse photography during the week long holiday my wife Liz and I spent on Lanzarote on the Canary Islands in early February 2018.
But it transpired that our visit coincided with a full moon and quite chilly, breezy and cloudy weather conditions - not ideal cirumstances for star photography.
So instead I decided to concentrate my low light time lapse efforts into capturing the transition from day to night at various places along the brightly lit southern coast of the island, making use of the artifical lighting that would have proved an anathema to capturing decent night skies.
This particular time lapse features dusk fading into night over the harbour at the seaside town of Playa Blanca, which was just a short drive along the coast from our resort.
We had an unexpected treat at the start of the shoot, as a rather large yacht decided to leave the harbour, executing a nautical three point turn right in front of us and captured wonderfully in this video.
The rest of the evening's shoot was lovely as well, as the natural light of day slowly gave way to night and the brightly lit boats and harbour front shops and restaurants added a golden glow to the darkness.
