A beautiful smoky sunset over Llandudno Bay on the North Wales coast was all the excuse I needed to spend two hours standing on a concrete ramp next to my camera as it faithfully clicked away recording stills as day turnied into dusk, followed by twilight and then night.
Mind you, at midsummer at a latitude of 53°N, that process takes an awful long time, and the sky never really goes dark at all, with a faint glow on the northern horizon marking the passage of the sun from setting to the northwest till it rises again in the northeast.
But standing by the sea, listening to the waves on the shingle and watching the seabirds is no real hardship, especially with a gently changing sky to enjoy.
So I stayed put, filming away until the natural light of day had all but been replaced with orange glow of the Llandudno promenade lights, before wending my weary way back home, tired but happy at experienceing such a lovely evening.
