One of the great things about living near the North Wales coast at a latitude of 53°N, from a photographic point of view, is the large change in the direction of sunrise and sunset over the course of the year.
Around midsummer the suns sets far to the northwest, which puts the sunset just off the tip of the Great Orme headland when viewed from the far end of Llandudno Bay.
An opportunity not to be missed, and this was my second attempt during the summer of 2017 to film the event as a time lapse, the first being stopped by a dense bank of cloud on the western horizon.
The was a covering of light cloud on this occasion too, but not enough to prevent the sun from being visible as it slid gracefully down the flank of the Great Orme and into the sea.
In fact that light cloud proved a blessing as it coloured up beautifully, catching the warm light of the sun even when it had dropped below the horizon.
Just another lovely evening on the North Wales coast - where else would you want to be?
