Well the weather forecast promised a clear sky at sunset on the North Wales coast so my wife Liz and I drove off to enjoy the warmth on our faces at Llandudno's West Shore beach.
But this being North Wales, the weather reality didn't quite match up to what was promised, with a cool stiff breeze blowing a heavy bank of cloud onshore while the sun struggled to put in an appearance through a small gap in the wrack on the western horizon.
Never mind, thought I, as clouds are much more interesting to me photographically speaking than a boring clear blue sky.
So while Liz hunkered down in the car with her coffee and knitting I went down onto the sand to shoot the stills for this time lapse video of the cloud action, hoping for at least a glimpse of the sun as well.
Well the sun coyly played peekaboo on the edge of the clouds, appearing just enough to lay down a golden streak of light on the wet sand which contrasted nicely with the cool blue tones of the clouds above.
I kept shooting till the last of the golden reflection faded away before gratefully clambering back up the beach and into the warmth of the car for the drive back home.
Maybe next time the forecast will get it right!
