For just a couple of weeks either side of the summer solstice, with the sun setting at its most northerly latitude, it's possible to enjoy the sight (on a clear evening!) of the sun sliding down the limestone face of the Great Orme headland at Llandudno on the North Wales coast.
Which is what I was hoping to see and film at the end of a lovely day in early July 2021.
Things started out well, but as the sun dropped towards the horizon the sunset was interrupted by a band of thick haze which resulted in the sun's rather premature disappearance.
But higher in the sky there were some lovely cirrus clouds catching the light, so a swift change of lens from telephoto to wide angle was called for and I continued shooting the gorgeous clouds until all the direct light had fled the scene, leaving the cool blue tones of twilight at the onset of night.
