One thing you can pretty much guarantee in the Snowdonia National Park in Wales is interesting weather.
Warm, moist air sweeps in off the Atlantic Ocean and Irish Sea to the west, and is forced to rise, cool and condense into clouds when it hits the three thousand foot high peaks that form the backbone of Snowdonia.
This time lapse video shows a typical evening in the mountains, with heavy rain clouds streaming over the summit of Snowdon while a fresh breeze ruffles the surface of Llyn Mymbyr below.
I spent a chilly hour hunkered down out of the worst of the wind by the lakeside, watching over my camera and tripod, balanced on a rock surrounded by water while above me the clouds played a game of light and dark as the sun slowly set in the west.
I was hoping for at least a glimpse of the sun as it dipped behind Snowdon, but it was not to be.
Never mind though, as the clouds did pick up some lovely colour just before close of play for the day.
