Time Lapse Video Of Storm Clouds Over Llyn Mymbyr, Wales #18

The story behind this video

Surely one of the most popular and well photographed views in the Snowdonia (now called Eryri) National Park in North Wales.

This is what you see from the road above Llyn Mymbyr, looking west towards the high peaks of Snowdon and its surrounding ridge, called the Snowdon Horseshoe.

I've stopped here to admire and photograph the view with my wife Liz too many times to mention, under every lighting and weather condition imaginable, from flat calm and sunny, to a full on snowstorm.

Which is one of the reasons I keep coming back, although the landscape doesn't change, its appearance and ambiance is never the same twice.

On this particular day, towards the end of August 2024, we had impressive storm clouds streaming across the peaks, with the odd break allowing shafts of sunlight to dance across the rugged terrain below.

Perfect conditions for a spot of time lapse photography then, so I took full advantage, shooting just over 700 still images over half an hour or so to capture the combination of landscape, weather, and light as the clouds boiled past over my head.

And then it was on to the next beautiful view, with so many to choose from here in stunning North Wales.
