The story behind this time lapse video started a couple of weeks previously, when I was out at Connah's Quay taking the stills for my aptly named Connah's Quay Time Lapse #1 video.
While I was there I was joined by another local photographer and, as is our wont, we started comparing notes and sharing photos about places we'd been.
One of his photos immediately grabbed my attention, a monochrome image of a lone tree growing out of a rock in a lake, with lovely clouds and a perfect reflection in the waters below.
'Where's that'? I asked, expecting some obscure location I'd never heard of.
'Llyn Padarn' he replied.
'What'! I said. 'I know Llyn Padarn well, but I've never seen that tree before'.
'Neither had I when I went there' he replied. 'But apparently it's quite famous, although I didn't know at the time'.
Well, what more incentive do you need than that?
So fast forward a couple of weeks to a lovely weekend with my wife Liz and I sitting on a conveniently placed bench looking at and photographing this 'famous' tree.
No reflections unfortunately, but plenty of amusing watersports action from the multitude of windsurfers, paddleboarders and kayakers to provide us with some light entertainment and to make my first (of many I think) time lapse video shot here rather fun to watch.
There was one girl in particular trying to master a windsurfer who kept on falling in, but she just wouldn't give up, and neither will I.
I'll certainly be back here, maybe for some dawn or night time shooting, hopefully with reflections next time!
