The twin towns of Lynton and Lynmouth on the North Devon coast are a haven of olde worlde charm and gracious living.
My wife Liz and I had spent a week here in the early noughties, so it was appropriate that we made a detour to Lynton and Lynmouth on our way home to North Wales after two weeks exploring Devon and Cornwall, just to see what had changed.
The answer was - nothing!
All the little shops and cafés that we remembered were still there, as was the fantastically quirky water and gravity powered cliff railway, taking paying passengers up and down the steep cliff face between Lyton at the top and Lynmouth at the bottom.
I was still shooting on film back when we last we here, with digital video just a pipe dream, so I was delighted to be able to capture the cliff railway in action using the video features on my good old Canon 6D.
We hope to return in a few years time, and find that still nothing has changed!
