Up at 3.30am for a lung busting scramble in the dark up my local hill with fully laden LowePro - sometimes you can take this photography lark a bit too seriously!
Still, there's very few people get to see what we see, such as dawn breaking and the sun rising as the cuckoos call over the summit of Moel Famau, complete with the collapsed Jubilee Tower emerging from the darkness of night.
I pre-planned this particular shoot some time ago, woring out what would be the best time of the year to catch the sunrise at the right spot in the video's composition.
Actually this was my second attempt to capture this scene, as my first attempt ended in failure as my camera cooled down, hit the dewpoint and then fogged up completely, ruining the effect I wanted to capture.
No such problems this morning, as the air temperature was higher and I avoided the dreaded dewpoint.
In all I spent two hours shooting stills that morning, revelling in the stillness and beauty as the landscape was slowly revealed by the rising sun, before reluctantly heading back down to go to work.
Well worth the early start!
