Moon Earthshine Timelapse #3

The story behind this video

A clear, crisp early winter's morning in North Wales, and the frost is lying thickly on the grass outside my front door.

Over to the east the sky is just starting to lighten with the cool blue tones of the pre-dawn glow, while hanging like a jewel above the horizon, the thin crescent of a waning moon starts its inexorable climb across the heavens.

This lunar phase, a few days either side of the new moon, is one of my favourites to photograph, with twilight colouring the sky and the unlit face of the moon painted with an ethereal glow from sunlight reflecting off the earth's surface.

So it was out with the camera and tripod to capture the 1000+ still images needed to create this other-worldly time lapse.

And it wasn't until I'd processed the final video that I noticed two jet aircraft, complete with contrails, passing across the face of the rising moon, just to add a bit of a suprise.

And hopefully I'll have clear skies again in the evening in a few days time, so I can film the waxing crescent moon setting through the evening twilight.

How wonderful is God's creation in action!
