Having just finished shooting the stills for my Llandudno Sunrise Timelapse #1 video, very early in the morning on the North Wales coast, I found myself with half an hour to spare before having to head back home and go to work.
The weather conditions were wonderful, that rare for North Wales combination of clear skies and no wind, so I wasn't going to let the opportunity pass by without using those thirty minutes profitably.
That lack of wind was very important to me, as the calm conditions allowed me to use my 100-400mm telephoto lens at maximum zoom without the wobble that anything stronger than the slightest breeze sets off.
The moon was in its 'morning crescent' phase on that day, and proved to be the ideal subject on which to use up my remaining free time.
I helped the moon stand out against the light blue sky by fitting a polarising filter which darkened sky without affecting the brightness of the moon, and after twenty five minutes of filming it was finally time to pack up and head homewards, my head and heart full of the beauty I'd had the priviledge to witness on that stunning early morning.
