I love it when a plan comes together!
This video captures a pretty unique juxtaposition of events in time and space, with a rare cloud free morning and a full moon setting just at the right spot over the Jubilee Tower on the summit of Moel Famau in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in North East Wales.
In addition to the passage of the moon, I was also given a bonus in the form of the planet Jupiter, which was chasing the moon downwards to the western horizon and is visible in the first half of the video.
Furthermore, the moon set behind the mountain at 7.15am, giving me just enough time to climb down from my viewpoint at Loggerheads Country Park and get to work for my usual 8am start.
And another thing! The morning was flat calm, allowing me to use my 100-400mm zoom at full stretch for the second half of this sequence without the final video jumping around all over the place due to wind buffeting the big lens.
As I said, a pretty unique set of circumstances, and I doubt I'll ever experience the same again.
I'm so glad I got up early in the sub-zero temperature to watch and film such a graphic example of God's wisdom, shown in the beauty and clockwork precision of the heavens.
