Very early in the morning in late September and I've taken advantage of a break in the terrible weather to get out in the fresh cold air to take in the stars at my local lookout in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in North Wales.
My chosen spot is the Pen Barras car park inbetween the twin peaks of Moel Famau and Feol Fenlli, not a perfect place for stargazing as there's a modicum of light pollution from nearby towns, but it's still dark enough to see the major constellations and the milky way.
As the start of nautical twilight approached I set up my camera looking towards the summit of Feol Fenlli, over which Orion the Hunter had just risen and was tracking westwards behind broken clouds which gave the brightest stars and ethereal glow.
After only forty minutes or so the sky had brightened considerably with the approaching dawn and a veil of heavier cloud swept across the heavens, bringing this time lapse shoot to a close.
Never mind though, as I only had to rotate my camera through 90° and carry on shooting to catch a gorgeous time lapse of dawn colours in the sky to the east, which you can watch in my Clwydians Dawn Timelapse #1 video.
