I filmed the stills for this time lapse video of sunrise at Penmon Point on the Isle of Anglesey, just off the North Wales coast, directly after an all night shoot at the same location, capturing an amazing display of the northern lights on the night of 12/13th August 2024.

So, although I was rocking on my feet after a seven hour shoot, I wasn't ready to pack up and go home just yet, as I knew from past experience that sunrise at Penmon Point can be quite spectacular.
And with a quick tripod relocation, change of camera angle and exposure settings I was ready to capture whatever the approaching light of day would throw my way.
At first glance things didn't look too hopeful, as the skies above were filling with cloud, heralding the approach of the next weather front from across the Irish Sea.
But along the far horizon a narrow sliver of clear sky started to glow with the light of the rising sun, and as the sun finally broached the horizon beams of warm orange light spread across the undersides of the clouds for just a few minutes before the sun climbed further into the bank of heavier clouds and the scene turned grey.
Worth staying around for - you bet!
But it was a very tired drive back to my home an hour and a half away, and a collapse into bed for a few hours' sleep.
