A tranquil start to the day on the lovely island of Mallorca, looking over the marina at Puerto Pollenca to the formidable Cap de Formentor to the northeast.
The transition from night to day has always entranced me, and this time lapse video shows why.
First of all there's a lightening to the sky on the eastern horizon, as the earth spins on its axis and the bit you're standing on approaches the sun.
Next, high altitude clouds start to catch the first rays of the sun, which still lies below the horizon.
And finally the glowing orb of the sun appears, rapidly growing in intensity as the earth spins on into the new day.
And the miracle of it is, that it will, God willing, happen all over again the following morning, but never the same twice.
I'm glad I'm a photographer, getting up super early to see stuff like this.
