Dramatic skies at sunset over the North Wales coast, and where better to view the spectacle than high up in the hills overlooking the seaside town of Prestatyn.
It was the end of August 2024 when my wife Liz and I took one of our many trips from our home, just fortyfive minutes drive away, to catch the evening views over the coast.
And as we were driving westwards I was getting more and more excited as I saw what was developing in the skies in front of us.
With broken clouds allowing beams of golden light to stream across the heavens as the sun lowered towards the far horizon, we quickly made the decision to head to the Prestatyn overlook, a small car park tucked away in the hills behind the coast and giving an amazing view to the north, out over the Irish Sea, and westwards along the whole stretch of the North Wales coast from Prestatyn to Llandudno.
Well, we arrived just in time for me to set up my camera and catch the sunset through those broken clouds.
But after the sun had set I kept on filming, knowing from previous shoots here that the lights of Prestatyn, laid out below us, would slowly brighten against the oncoming darkness of night, giving a lovely and dramatic time lapse effect to end this video with.
And so it proved to be, with the lights and moving traffic through the centre of the town lighting up the night.
A gorgeous view to end a dramatic evening with.
