A rather muted sunset looking out over the Irish Sea from the beach at Prestatyn, on the north Wales coast, was made magical by this tidal pool and rippled sand in the foreground.
With a very large tidal range, the north Wales coast is a constantly changing visual treat, with acres of sandy beach being covered and exposed twice a day.
And with its undulating contours, Prestatyn beach is a great place for these shallow, reflecting, tidal pools to form as the tide recedes.
So although the sunset on this particular evening was hidden behind drifting clouds for the most part, those clouds, and their reflections in the pool, provided a mesmeric effect when speeded up in this time lapse video.
And the next time I try this, the scene will be completely different, as those shifting sands forming new dips, hollows and pools with every change of the tide.
