An all too rare sunny day in late March 2017 was all the excuse my wife Liz and I needed to forget the chores and head to the North Wales coast.
We're blessed to live within reasonable driving distance of some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, so we tend to take full advantage when the weather's favourable to get out and enjoy it.
On this particular afternoon we headed to one of the most spectacular sunset locations anywhere - the cliffs and lighthouse at South Stack on the northwestern tip of the Isle of Anglesey.
In the clear sea air the Wicklow mountains, over on the east coast of Ireland, were clearly visible on the horizon, and after a brief walk around in the chilly breeze Liz retired to the car for a knitting session while I set up my camera on the edge of the cliffs to record the stills for this time lapse video.
There were a lot of other photographers and sightseers out and about to photograph the sunset along with me, and we weren't disappointed as the sun dipped below the horizon in a blaze of colour.
But then a strange thing happened as all but one other photographer piled back into their cars and drove off!
Not me! I always try and stay put for at least half an hour after sunset, as you never can tell what might happen as the last of the sun's rays strike the underside of any clouds lurking overhead.
On this occasion I'm certainly glad we did stay, as Liz and I were treated to the most amazing display of light and colours as seemingly the whole sky caught fire in a blaze of orange, red and mauve.
Eventually the light show did come to an end, and we started the hour and a half drive back home, elated at seeing such an awesome display of God's glory in creation.
