Being on the upper deck of a cruise liner gives one a unique perspective on the world.
The view out over the city of Stockholm in Sweden is a case in point, which is why I spent a couple of chilly hours hunched over my tripod against the rail on the highest point of our ship as we were docked overnight at the Vikingterminalen.
My wife Liz and I were enjoying a cruise around various locations on the Baltic coast, with Stockholm being one of the highlights, and with beautiful clear skies for the whole of our trip I certainly made the most of the photo opportunites presented to me.
Looking northwest out over the city skyline from our lofty vantage point gave me this fantastic view of the sun setting over the city which, of course, I captured in this time lapse video, helped enormously by the fact that the ship wasn't moving at the time!
And the photographic fun didn't end with the sunset, as I stayed in place to capture dusk falling over the spectacular Grona Lund amusement park.
But that's another story.
