Little did I know, when my wife Liz and I decided on a trip to Llandudno on the North Wales coast, what a visual treat we were in for that particular afternoon.
The weather was certainly a mixed bag, with showers and sunshine alternating every half hour.
Not so good for strolling on the beach, but I was certainly getting excited about the chances for some dramatic photography.
In the end we parked up on the West Shore, with hot coffees, in the stiff breeze and watched entranced as rays of sun broke through the clouds streaming overhead.
Beams of light were streaking across the sea as I rushed to set up my good old Canon 5D to take shots for this time lapse video sequence.
In the end, we stayed for an hour and a half, watching and photographing as the sun played hide and seek with the clouds, eventually dipping below the horizon through a small gap in the clouds to finish off the show with a flourish.
It's very rare to see so much sunset drama in one sitting, so I'm glad we made the effort to go and even more glad that we had the patience to sit tight for the whole experience.
