Knowing where to go at which time of the year is half the battle when contemplating outdoor photography or video production.
Living at a latitude of 53 degrees North, in North Wales we enjoy a large variation in both the timing and angle of sunrise and sunset over the course of a year, a fact that I can make use of to produce a variety of views under wildly different lighting conditions.
This video, for example, was shot close to mid summer's day looking northwest up the estuary of the river Conwy over the yachts moored in the marina there.
This is the only time of year you can see this particular view, so I took advantage of a clear weather forecast to park up by the road bridge across the river and spent half an hour shooting stills as the sun sank over the masts of the moored yachts and finally disappeared over the horizon.
