A brief respite from the North Wales rain and cold at the end of February was all the excuse my wife Liz and I needed to head to the coast for some much needed fresh air and exercise.
Our chosen destination for the afternoon was the shoreline path that runs from Deganwy on the estuary of the river Conwy round to the West Shore at Llandudno, and we enjoyed an hour's brisk walk, taking in the sights and sounds of the seaside in winter mode.
But of course, I had an ulterior motive in our choice of location for our stroll.
Having checked the direction of the sunset on my Photographer's Ephemeris app, I was delighted to see that, given a clear sky, the sun would be setting a liitle further down the coast over the headland at Penmaenmawr, and our parking spot on the Marine Crescent at Deganwy would give me the perfect angle to shoot a time lapse of the event.
Well, for once everything went according to plan, and we enjoyed the spectacle of the sunset over the headland, followed by some lovely twilight colours, and all this reflecting in the moderately calm waters of the Conwy estuary just below us.
I stayed shooting stills until almost all the colour had bled from the sky before packing up and heading home, still buzzing from a sensory overload of the beauty and wisdom of God's creation.
