Late summer high on the Sychnant Pass above Conway on the North Wales coast, and the heather is just passing its peak of colour.
For my wife Liz and I, this is one of our 'go to' places when the weather's kind, and especially when the heather and gorse are at their most colourful.
A bit of a hike from the car park rewards one with a stunning view out over the mouth of the river Conwy estuary to the limestone headland of the Great Orme on the far side of the bay.
But the big view isn't the only attraction up here, and on this afternoon my eye was drawn to this battered old tree, surrounded by a hillside covered in purple heather.
I took a few still images of the scene, which was particularly lovely in the warm light of the low angled sun as it sank towards the western horizon, but then I noticed the movement of some interesting looking clouds in the sky overhead.
So as well as the still frames, I also shot half an hour's worth of exposures to create this gentle, and rather lovely, time lapse sequence.
