With the tortured strains of 'Delilah' or something similar coming from the karaoke bar just a few yards away, and the smell of frying chips wafting around on the breeze I was not exactly in my natural element as I captured the hundreds of still images needed to create this time lapse video of sunset over the Atlantic ocean from the promenade at Costa Adeje on Tenerife.
This was one of those times when, although it's said 'the camera never lies', a careful bit of framing and zooming can certainly mask the whole truth.
My wife Liz and I were spending a week in January getting some warmth into our old bones, staying at a relatively quiet resort on the Costa Adeje, so it was only a short, camera laden walk to this spot from where we could watch the sunset over the water, with the added bonus of the beautiful island of La Gomera on the western horizon.
The twilight proved to be gorgeous, and well worth putting up with a bit of off key singing and deep fried culinary delights in order to enjoy the spectacle.
