The first evening of the two week holiday my wife Liz and I spent on Tenerife in the Canary Islands, I stepped out of our resort at Golf del Sur, crossed the promenade and headed out onto the volcanic rocks that form the Atlantic coastline in this part of the island.
I wanted to catch the sunset over the masts of the yachts in the nearby marina, but I didn't bank on the strong gusty wind and the slipperyness of the rocks, washed by the tide.
So after a precarious dance to my chosen spot, using my extented tripod as a walking stick, I finally made it far enough out to allow me this angle on the setting sun, staying rooted to the spot for thirty minutes as the sun played hide and seek behind some low clouds along the horizon while my camera clicked away recording the several hundred images required to create this time lapse video.
Needless to say, I didn't try that spot again, but thankfully there were many more lovely sunset locations to visit during our stay, which didn't require such a slippery approach!
