The night sky over Mount Teide, the huge volcano in the centre of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, was ablaze with stars in the cold, clear January air up at 7,000 feet altitude in the Teide National Park.
My wife Liz had driven up here in our little hire car from our resort at Costa Adeje on the south coast of the island in order to explore the park, ride up to near the top of Mouth Teide in the 'Teide Teleferique' cable car, and finally for me to shoot a time lapse of the milky way arching over the mountain and volcanic landscape of this ortherworldy place.
Well our day certainly didn't disappoint, and we had a great time mavelling at the amazing landscapes and geology left behind from Tenerife's violent past.
I was even able to film my time lapse from just a few metres from our car, retreating back there every now and then to warm up during the hour long shoot.
